By allowing custom fields to link to an enumeration, it is possible to have a drop down list of selectable values for the custom field.

I was wondering actually if the Enumerations could be turned into custom fields of a new specific type, any thoughts?

I guess that would be ok too. Main thing is to get some sort of valid values for custom fields (e.g. choose from a drop-down, like enumerations). Whatever works.
