It would be useful to have something similar to the github API which gives 3rd parties tools the ability to send notifications about the current CI build status of a merge request. In the case of Redmine I propose to add the status for each linked commit.

Well, this seems more likely a plugin request?
Have you noticed http://wiki.hudson-ci.org/display/HUDSON/Redmine+Plugin ? Just for example.

not really a plugin request, I was suggesting to add an API similar to the GitHub's one. I don't see the point for having a plugin for this feature
