I tried to keep the API key out of my access logs and thus tried to switch to the X-Redmine-API-Key for authentication against the /sys/ stuff. Loong debugging story short: It isn't supported.
Looking at the code it shouldn't be hard to add support, I'll see what I can do.
Basic Auth isn't possible either, that one might be a bit more complicated to add.
