Right now, forum message lists tend to take two lines: the second line is only used to show the subject of the last message in the topic.

I see that in many cases people don't adjust this text, so the same subject line gets used and shown over and over again.

One idea would be to omit the second subject line (in the LAST MESSAGE column) when it is identical to the original subject (in the first SUBJECT column).

Doing so would collapse the table to use less space vertically in many cases, without losing any info.

Less space == more viewable content without scrolling == convenience?
